Top-tier artists return with stunning collections

Singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel, singer-guitarist Jonny Lang and modern country singer-songwriter Chris Young are featured on strong new collections out this week (Sept. 17, 2013 here in the U.S.).

The DVD version (reviewed here) features his complete, remastered legendary 1987 concert filmed at the open-air theatre at Lycabettus in Athens captured by director Michael Chapman (including Youssou N'Dour's opening set) on disc 1, while the 2nd disc features 23 classic concept videos for many of his best-known gems ("Sledgehammer," "Big Time," "Red Rain," "In Your Eyes" and more). His long-awaited disc Fight For My Soul was thankfully worth the wait. The 11-track disc blends the fiery guitar-anchored blues that thrust the then 16-year-old Lang on the international scene back in 1997 with his modern day love of soul and gospel elements. The new album has plenty of great songs including the blazing "Blew Up (The House)," modern R&B standout "Breakin' In" and emotive blues-tinged soul ballad "What You're Looking For."
